For more information, call Vicky DeJulio at 477-2005, ext. 223.Program to control algae continues at lake NASSAU -- The Nassau Lake Improvement Association has issued a notice that a chemical designed to control algae growth will be applied to the lake on Wednesday evenings this summer.
Copper sulfate will be applied at 6 p.m. Wednesdays, July 26 and Aug. 9, said Gale Cramer, secretary of the association, which is made up of property owners around the lake.
The lake level will be lowered by 6 inches before the applications to prevent spillage over a dam into the Kinderhook Creek, Cramer said.
The association also recommends against swimming in the lake for 24 hours following the copper sulfate application.
