Fed: US trade deal has to benefit Australia - PM
CANBERRA, Jan 16 AAP - Prime Minister John Howard today said a trade deal with the
United States would only go ahead if it was in Australia's interests.
With the deadline for the finalisation of the free trade agreement (FTA) fast approaching,
Mr Howard told ABC Radio he was hopeful a deal could be struck.
"I've said all along I'm very strongly committed to a free trade agreement with the
United States if it can be negotiated on favourable terms," he said.
