LANDLORDS FIGHT CITY HALL OVER CODE VIOLATIONS.(CAPITAL REGION)

ALBANY City Hall has gone overboard in its code enforcement and created a hostile environment for landlords, a group of property owners has told Mayor Jerry Jennings.

Landlords complained to the mayor in particular that firefighters now enforcing codes have gone beyond normal building regulations and are trying to force owners to make unnecessary improvements to make their properties safer for fighting fires. They also argued that Albany is in violation of a long-standing law that requires municipalities with populations over 20,000 to have special housing courts.
